When the power goes out, reliable lighting can make all the difference. The Baron Portable H₂O-Activated Emergency Light provides long-lasting illumination using a small amount of water-based liquid—without conventional batteries, mains power, fuel or an open flame.
Individually sealed in waterproof packaging, each light is designed for emergency storage for a **minimum of five years when unopened**. When required, simply add approximately **15 mL of water or another suitable water-based liquid** to activate the light.
After approximately **48 hours**, a further **8 mL of liquid can be added to provide additional power** and help maintain operation.
Compact, lightweight, non-explosive and flame-free, the Baron Emergency Light is ideal for homes, vehicles, boats, caravans, camping, workplaces and emergency-preparedness kits.
Extended illumination when you need it most
The light provides approximately:
- 168 hours of continuous illumination —equivalent to 7 full days\
- Upto approximately **400 hours when used on a 12-hour on / 12-hour off cycle**—equivalent to approximately 16.5 days
- Gradually decreasing brightness as the available power is used
The latest model features an improved reflector, increasing the light output from approximately 174 lux to 250 lux—an improvement of around 44% compared with the earlier version.
Baron Portable H₂O-Activated Emergency Light - How it works
The Baron Emergency Light uses patented stacked magnesium metal-air generator technology. When activated with a water-based liquid, the generator produces electricity to power the light.
It can be activated with a range of liquids containing water, including:
- Fresh water
- Salt water or seawater
- Saline solution
- Other suitable water-based liquids (including fruit juice, urine, even eye drops)
Testing has also demonstrated activation using liquids such as juice and urine when water is not otherwise available. Fresh water, salt water or saline solution are recommended where possible.
